Christmas holidays support

Help with food

Wirral Foodbank works with local agencies to help people who are struggling to put food on the table. If you need an emergency food parcel, you can call Wirral Council on 0151 606 2005 (option 4) who can also assess you for help with Wirral Foodbank.

Help with utilities

If you are having problems topping up your gas and electricity because of financial hardship, you should contact your energy supplier. The Wirral Council can only help with your gas and electricity if your need is urgent, and you are on a pre-payment meter. You can call them on 0151 606 2005 (option 4).

Energy Projects Plus is a local charity that may be able to offer you a free home energy visit, offering personalised advice on ways you can keep warm and reduce your energy bills. They can help you switch your energy tariff, apply for Warm Home Discount, install energy saving measures, apply for funding for heating and insulation and support with fuel debt. You can contact them by calling 0800 043 0151.

Abuse, neglect, or adults at risk

Call the Emergency Duty Team on 0151 677 6557 to report abuse, neglect, or an adult at risk if it is past 5pm Monday to Friday, or it is a weekend or bank holiday. If services are required urgently, a social care professional can provide a temporary service without a needs assessment.

Mental health

The festive period can be a joyful time, but it can also bring added stress, loneliness, or emotional strain. If you’re finding things difficult, please remember you’re not alone and support is available throughout the holidays. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, low, anxious, or just not yourself, reaching out early can make a big difference. Visit our mental health support page for advice and services that can help.

If you need urgent help, please call 0800 145 6485 (open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and our local support team will help you.

If you have an immediate, life-threatening emergency requiring mental or physical health assistance, always dial 999 or visit Arrowe Park Hospital’s A&E department.
