ADHD care coordinator

What they do

An ADHD care coordinator is a non-clinical member of our Primary Care Networks (PCNs) team who helps patients navigate the ADHD pathway. They support people who are awaiting assessment, undergoing diagnosis, or accessing ongoing ADHD services by helping to coordinate appointments and administrative processes.

The ADHD care coordinator works closely with GP surgeries and other relevant services to support communication and ensure that appointments, questionnaires, and pathway requirements are managed efficiently. They help patients understand where they are in the process and what administrative steps may be required next. This role does not provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or medical advice.

Key aims

  • Act as a point of contact for patients navigating the ADHD pathway.
  • Support patients who are awaiting an ADHD assessment, diagnosis, or follow-up appointment.
  • Coordinate appointments and help manage booking, cancellation, and rescheduling requests.
  • Ensure questionnaires, forms, and other administrative requirements are completed and processed appropriately.
  • Improve communication between patients, GP surgeries, and ADHD services.
  • Help patients understand the different stages of the ADHD pathway and what to expect next.
  • Reduce delays by supporting efficient administrative processes.
  • Help ensure patients remain engaged with services and do not become lost in the pathway.
  • Support a smooth and consistent patient experience across ADHD services.
